TL;DR: Your Halo Pay arrangement ends and your salary goes back to normal. No penalties, no notice period, no strings.
Starting school is a big milestone — and not just for your child. It's also the point where your Halo Pay arrangement comes to a natural end. Here's what happens.
Your salary goes back up
When your child leaves nursery, the Halo Pay arrangement stops. Your gross salary returns to its original amount, and your take-home pay increases accordingly.
If you were sacrificing £1,000 a month, your gross salary increases by £1,000 a month. Your net pay won't increase by the full £1,000 — because you'll pay tax and NI on that amount again — but you'll no longer have nursery fees either. For most families, this means noticeably more cash each month.
There are no penalties
This isn't a mobile phone contract. There's no exit fee, no early termination charge, no break clause to negotiate. When your child finishes at nursery, the arrangement ends. That's it.
You don't need to give months of notice
We ask for reasonable notice to wind down the payments — typically one month, aligned with your nursery's own notice period. There's no Halo-specific penalty for stopping.
What if my child leaves nursery early?
Same thing. If you move your child to a different setting, or your circumstances change, the Halo Pay arrangement can be adjusted or ended. Life happens. The arrangement flexes with you.
What if I have another child?
You can set up a new arrangement for your next child whenever they start nursery. Families with multiple children can run arrangements for each child at the same time.
The bottom line
Halo Pay is designed to last exactly as long as you need it — from when your child starts nursery to when they leave. No commitments beyond that. No financial hangover. Just real savings for the years when childcare costs are at their peak.
