The business case
Why offer Halo?
Keep your best people
Replacing a mid-career professional costs £30k+. Halo gives working parents a meaningful reason to stay — saving them thousands a year on nursery fees.
Retain working parents
Nursery fees can consume most of a second income. Halo Pay reduces the burden — making it easier for parents to keep working and keep progressing.
Cost-neutral benefit
Halo’s platform lets you offer a meaningful childcare benefit without touching your benefits budget. It’s designed to be cashflow neutral for your business.
Strengthen your EVP
A workplace nursery benefit is a powerful differentiator. It signals that you’re a modern, family-friendly employer — and gives recruiters something concrete to talk about.
Implementation
How it works for your business
Registration takes about 10 minutes. Here’s what the process looks like.
Register online
Complete a short registration form — it takes about 10 minutes. No paperwork, no procurement process.
We handle the setup
Halo configures your account, onboards nurseries, and prepares employee communications. You don't need to find or vet providers.
Employees enrol
Your team receives an invitation to choose their registered nursery and set their contribution. Halo validates everything automatically, including National Minimum Wage checks.
Adjust payroll monthly
Each month, Halo sends a simple payroll report. You apply the Halo Pay deductions — that's your only ongoing task.
You pay nurseries directly
Halo facilitates direct nursery payments from your business, on time, every month. You also help fund a community grant pot that supports nursery capacity and quality.

FAQ
Common questions from employers
Yes. Halo is designed to be cost-neutral for employers. There’s nothing extra to pay.
Very little. Halo handles nursery onboarding, employee enrolment, National Minimum Wage checks, and nursery payments. Your only task is applying a monthly payroll report — usually a few lines in your payroll software.
No. Employees choose their own registered nursery. Halo onboards any nursery that isn’t already in the network, at no cost to you or the nursery.
Halo is structured under the workplace nursery exemption — Section 318 of ITEPA 2003. An independent tax review has been completed and documentation is available on request.
Registration takes about 10 minutes. Halo handles the rest of the configuration and most employers are live the same day.
Yes — if you’re a director of a Ltd company and pay yourself through PAYE, you can use Halo Pay. The exemption works through salary sacrifice, so it’s available to anyone on a PAYE payroll. Sole traders can’t use it because there’s no employer–employee relationship to sacrifice salary through.
